Accessibility Statement

The Access, Equity & Leadership Collective (AELC) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We believe all community members should be able to access information, participate in advocacy, and engage with our tools and resources with dignity and ease.

We are continuously improving the accessibility of our website, digital tools, forms, and content to align with current accessibility standards and best practices.

What Web Accessibility Means to Us

An accessible website allows visitors with disabilities to browse and interact with the site with the same level of ease and independence as all other visitors. This includes compatibility with assistive technologies, clear content structure, readable design, and accessible media formats.

Our goal is to ensure that community members including Deaf, DeafBlind, hard of hearing, blind, low-vision, mobility-impaired, neurodivergent, and people with other disabilities can fully use our site and participate in our work.

Accessibility Adjustments on This Site

AELC works to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We regularly review and update the site to improve accessibility and usability for all visitors.

Adjustments include:

  • Setting the language of the site

  • Structuring pages with clear, descriptive headings

  • Adding alternative text to images

  • Ensuring readable font sizes and consistent layout

  • Using high-contrast color combinations

  • Reducing or removing motion that may trigger sensory responses

  • Ensuring videos and audio include captions or transcripts when available

  • Supporting keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility

  • Reviewing forms for clarity, keyboard access, and screen reader labeling

We also use accessibility tools and manual review to identify and fix issues as they arise.

Third-Party Content (If Applicable)

  • Some content on this website may be embedded from or linked to third-party platforms (such as Google Forms, Wix features, external videos, or documents). While AELC aims to choose accessible tools, we do not have full control over third-party accessibility.

  • If any third-party content is not fully accessible, please contact us so we can offer an alternative version whenever possible.
